Recently shortlisted as one of the worlds best online radio stations by Mixcloud, Manchester’s Reform Radio is due to present a 24-hour radio broadcast and all female, live music showcase at The Whiskey Jar, Manchester on Wednesday 8th March to celebrate International Women’s Day 2017.
Headlining the live showcase is female Singer/Songwriter and Reform Radio Presenter, Mica Millar, recently tipped by The Manchester Evening News as “The next big thing”.
Formerly the front-woman of four-piece band Red Sky Noise, who won BBC 1Xtra’s prestigious “Introducing Track of The Week” back in 2014, and one half of due “Mica & Kardanski” (The latter a former member of Mercury Records signed, Kid British), Mica’s solo live set brings together a soulful-six-piece line-up including an all female, gospel-inspired, vocal trio and three piece band made up of Adisa Allen (The Mouse Outfit) on Drums, Ben Price (Jenna G/8 Gold Rings) on Bass, Liam Morson (Family Ranks) on Keys/Synth.
The soulstress, who’s radio documentary “Let’s Talk About Sex: Women In Music” addressing the industries gender imbalance was broadcast on Reform Radio for IWD 2016, has aptly chosen the 8th March to release her debut single “My Lover”. Timed to celebrate contributions from the all-female team of creatives involved in mixing, master and creating visual content for her forthcoming, self-penned and produced album (due out late 2017) including mix engineer Yvonne Ellis (Corrine Bailey Rae/ Simply Red).
Support slots for the showcase have been awarded to Manchester collective Family Ranks fronted by gospel singer Ruby Anne-Patterson, up and coming Neo Soul singer Mali Hayes and hotly tipped female rapper Layfullstop – who recently performed for Kendrick Lamar at his surprise show in Manchester. Just some of the many talented female artist who have been showcased on Mica’s Manchester Music Show which airs on Reform Radio every other Monday night from 7-9pm.
