Described by The Manchester Evening News as “the next big thing“ and leaving BBC Introducing presenters and “big fans” Michelle Hussey & Natalie Eve Williams “speechless” and “mesmerised”, Mica Millar has quickly established herself as “an artist to watch in 2017″ (Karen Gabay, BBC Radio/ITV).
The Manchester born vocalist and songwriter, is due to release her second solo single “Not The First” on Wednesday 30th August 2017 with a launch show hosted at The Deaf Institute, Manchester.
Since launching in March with a sold out show at The Whiskey Jar, Millar’s early live performances have seen her take to the stages of some of her hometown’s most well renowned concert halls including The 02 Ritz and The Contact Theatre as well as performing twice for Manchester International Festival in Festival Square, headlining on the final day of the festival last Sunday.
Performing with her soulful six-piece line up of musicians including; drummer Adisa Allen (The Mouse Outfit), bassist Ben Price (Jenna G/8 Gold Rings), keys/synth player Liam Morson (Family Ranks) and her trio of female backing vocalists, the “Not The First” launch show will see Mica perform her debut solo single “My Lover”, BBC Radio 1Xtra “Single of The Week” “Only You” (previously released with her former band “Red Sky Noise) as well as her brand new single and songs from her forthcoming debut album, due for release in 2018.
Quickly gaining support both locally and nationally, Mica recently appeared on Mike Sweeney’s BBC Radio Show and stunned the presenter with a debut live performance of “Not The First”. “I’ve listened (live) to Etta James, Janice Joplin, some great singers over the years. Mica Millar’s voice is incredible…I suspect in the future, she’ll be doing a lot bigger venue’s than that and hopefully she’ll remember us here”.
Other early avid supporters include the likes of Gary Stein, the former Director of Music at Bauer Music Group and current Managing Editor at Global’s Heart Radio who tweeted that he had “re-discovered music tonight” after watching Mica’s recent performance at Matt & Phred’s Jazz Club, and Soul Music and Radio veteran Andy Peebles (Smooth Radio/BBC Radio 1), best know for conducting the last British media interview with John Lennon, who said Mica was “As good as it gets”.
Limited early bird tickets are now on sale for Mica Millar’s “Not The First” single launch at The Deaf Institute, Manchester on Wednesday 30th August 2017.
